April Mission of the Month
April Mission of the Month: Solar Oven Partners UMC
This April, we are supporting Solar Oven Partners (SOP) UMC, a ministry dedicated to improving the lives of families in the Dominican Republic, Sierra Leone, and the Four Corners Native American communities in the U.S. by providing solar ovens and education on their use.
About Solar Oven Partners:
Since its inception, SOP has distributed over 24,000 solar ovens, empowering families to cook meals and pasteurize water using the free energy of the sun. This initiative addresses critical needs by:
• Enhancing Health: Reducing exposure to smoke from open fires, which can cause respiratory and eye problems, and minimizing the risk of burns.
• Alleviating Economic Strain: Eliminating the need to purchase cooking fuels, allowing families to allocate resources toward food, education, and healthcare.
• Promoting Environmental Sustainability: Decreasing deforestation and environmental degradation caused by the collection of wood for cooking fires.
How You Can Contribute:
• Donate: Each solar oven costs approximately $200 to produce and deliver. Your financial support will help provide these life-changing tools to families in need.
• Learn More: Visit Solar Oven Partners UMC to understand more about their mission and impact.
By supporting Solar Oven Partners this month, we can help bring sustainable cooking solutions to communities, improving health, economic stability, and environmental conditions. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to making a difference.

Confirmation Sunday
Join us for a special Confirmation Sunday on April 27th as we celebrate and affirm the faith commitments of our confirmation students! During the worship service, these young disciples will publicly profess their faith, commit to a life of discipleship, and become full members of our congregation.
This milestone marks an important step in their spiritual journey, as they confirm the vows made at their baptism and embrace their role in the life of the church. Through study, prayer, and mentorship, they have explored what it means to follow Christ and live out their faith in meaningful ways.
We invite the entire church family to come alongside them in support and encouragement. Let’s celebrate this sacred moment together and continue to walk with them in faith!
All are welcome to join in this joyful occasion!

March Mission of the Month
March Mission of the Month: Hinckley Area Food Pantry
This March, we are supporting the Hinckley Area Food Pantry, a vital resource serving residents of Big Rock, Hinckley, Maple Park, Shabbona, and Waterman who face food insecurity.
Operating since 1993, the Hinckley Area Food Pantry provides essential grocery basics in a client-choice model, allowing individuals and families to “shop” for what they need in a setup similar to a grocery store. This empowering approach ensures that clients can select items that best meet their specific needs.
In addition to groceries, the pantry occasionally offers school supplies and household essentials, providing well-rounded support to the community.
How You Can Help:
• Donate Non-Perishable Food Items: Drop off canned goods, dry goods, and other non-perishable foods in our collection bins during March.
• Give Financial Support: Monetary donations help the pantry purchase fresh and specific items in bulk.
• Pray and Advocate: Keep this mission and the families it serves in your prayers and spread awareness about this important cause.
Together, we can ensure that our neighbors in need have access to the essentials for a healthy and hopeful future. Thank you for your support and generosity!
