February Mission of the Month

February Mission of the Month: Support UMCOR’s Global Humanitarian Efforts

This February, we are dedicating our Mission of the Month to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church. Founded in 1940, UMCOR’s mission is to alleviate human suffering by providing practical support to communities affected by natural and human-caused disasters, as well as addressing issues related to migration, health, food security, and environmental sustainability.

About UMCOR:

UMCOR operates both domestically and internationally, offering aid without regard to race, religion, or status. Their work includes:

Disaster Response and Recovery: Providing immediate relief and long-term recovery support to communities impacted by disasters such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and conflicts.

Migration and Refugee Support: Assisting refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers by ensuring their rights and providing necessary resources for safe passage and resettlement.

Health Initiatives: Supporting health systems, combating diseases like malaria, and promoting maternal and child health.

Sustainable Development: Focusing on food security, agriculture, and environmental sustainability to empower communities towards self-sufficiency.

How You Can Contribute:

Your generous donations this month will directly support UMCOR’s efforts to provide relief and hope to those in desperate need. Here’s how you can participate:

Donate: Contribute financially through our church’s designated giving channels.

Pray: Keep the affected individuals and UMCOR’s mission in your prayers.

Learn More: Visit UMCOR’s website to understand more about their global impact and other ways to get involved.

By supporting UMCOR, we extend our compassion and resources beyond our local community, embodying Christ’s call to serve “the least of these” on a global scale. Let’s come together this February to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
